CAIR's United Against Hate Campaign

Shield Our Community This Ramadan: United Against Hate

This Ramadan, as we seek spiritual peace, our community in Texas faces a growing storm. While we turn toward prayer, others are turning toward political stunts meant to silence our voices and criminalize our faith.

Governor Abbott’s recent campaign—attacking sacred Islamic burial rites, targeting community hubs like EPIC, and baselessly labeling civil rights work as 'terrorism'—is more than a political stunt; it is a direct assault on every Muslim in Texas.

CAIR-Texas is the shield. We have sued this administration three times and won because the Constitution—and our community—stand with us.

Why Your Support is Critical Now

Your Zakat and Sadaqah this month will directly fund the defense of our rights through:

Legal Defense: Free representation for victims of discrimination and unlawful government targeting.

Government Advocacy: Challenging unconstitutional policies in the halls of power.

Community Security: Protecting our Masjids and training our youth to lead with confidence.

Media Rapid Response: Correcting harmful narratives and ensuring our truth is told.

Stand Firm. Give Today.

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The best of charity is charity during Ramadan." By giving today, you aren't just donating to a nonprofit; you are investing in a future where our children can live with dignity and without fear.

We refuse to be intimidated. We remain united.

Help us reach our $500,000 goal to keep Texas's largest Muslim civil rights engine running.

Is CAIR-Texas Zakat-eligible?

Based on the advice of respected scholars, we currently designate zakat-eligible funds for the services provided by the following CAIR-Texas departments:

Legal Department, which represents Muslim Americans victimized by anti-Muslim discrimination, including Muslim students, workers, travelers and incarcerated individuals.
Government Affairs Department, which is dedicated to advocating for policies and laws that benefit the Muslim community by–for example–protecting their right to practice their religion, advocate for causes of justice, and travel freely and safely, among other things.
Research & Advocacy Department, which is dedicated to monitoring, exposing and countering Islamophobia and other forms of bigotry.
Communications Department, which is dedicated to educating the public about Islam and Muslims, countering anti-Muslim bigotry and other forms, and advance our legal, policy and research work.

What Our Scholars say?

Numerous Muslim scholars have concluded that Zakat is payable to organizations that exist to serve the Muslim community by protecting their rights. This is based on the conclusion that the work done by CAIR (and other such Muslim organizations) can be classified as fi-sabilillah, which is one of the eight categories of Zakat recipients detailed in the Quran (Chapter 9, Verse 60). In addition, CAIR works to help fulfill the Muslim American community’s communal obligation (fard kifayah) to protect the right to practice Islam and defend people experiencing unjust oppression.
